-2—
Frischman stated it would be nice to see the numbers for soccer broken down by
ages. When the players get to be about 10 or 12 years old, they go to Blaine or
other communities to play. She's wondering if there is a way to pull these players
back into our program. Maybe we could offer something for them during the off
season. It would be nice to see the numbers so we know how it breaks down.
Tranby stated we will always lose a few to the school or to the traveling teams.
We provide a very essential service to those who don't want to travel or spend the
time or for those that are not quite ready for the traveling program. Cindy stated
she can definitely get those numbers broken down by age group. ;
Samuelson asked if the staff for Safety Camp is all internal.
Tranby stated we have a few fire fighters that coxae in; Dan
"Stranger Danger" talk. We have some presenters that! we h
volunteers. We have self-defense, and an electrics
critters and company that does a talk on self away
counselors are all staff. Allina does an obstacle w1
disabilities_ Allina also provide counselors. We ty
does
1ica
)"ect. Most of the
xse on people with.
the 3' and 4'
Chair Frischman thanked Tranby for her presentation.
Trails Committee Update — Lisa Harreld
Harreld stated that the Committee took a tour up to the Long Lake Road and look
at the signage for the bike trail. The sign looks just great. The project is now
complete. Unfortunately there was some graffiti up there but thanks to the Public
Works people, they came up very quickly and took care of it. This will be a great
connection and a safe route for bikers. There is a DNR grant that is just getting
started (in the planning stage). This would be for any trails in the Northwest
Quadrant. As this develops, we will continue to work with this. This will be a trail
that will be parallel with 694 going under the bridge and making some
connections to the Northwest Quadrant area. We will also be looking at other
trails in the Northwest Quadrant area in the future as they connect with Long Lake
