Council agreed with
some of the proposed changes and directed staff to work on ordinance amendments.
Two code changes Council expressed interest in changing are the definition length for
tall grass and weeds and firewood storage. Currently the nuisance code lists tall grass
and weeds to be twelve inches. The change in ordinance will set the new length for tall
grass and weeds at eight inches. Currently the City nuisance code does not address
firewood storage. The ordinance change would limit the amount of firewood allowed and
require it be stacked in a stable manner and stored in the side or rear yard.
Other changes the Council expressed interest in include, changes to the housing code
regarding exterior maintenance and a process to enforce PODS, inter modal storage
containers and dumpsters. Staff will present changes later this year as they are ready.
HAOrdinance changes\Ordinance draft work session memo.dac
