Mr. Bill Snoke distributed 3 -quarters of data showing response times and a breakdown of <br />the types of calls handled. Allina has implemented new computer systems; including, <br />dispatch, billing and electronic charts/records. Allina will be doing some research where <br />the same types of calls will be looked at and then the elements of the calls will be <br />compared; ie, para/para rigs vs. para/EMT rigs, length of stay at hospital, etc. <br />Volunteers in Public Safety (YIPS) <br />Commissioner Woods noted the following items regarding VIPS: <br />o <br />VIPS held their monthly meeting last night. <br />o <br />VIPS helped at Polynesian Village when the new playground equipment was installed <br />for Kaboom. <br />o <br />VIPS will do the Fire Department monthly meeting dinners in January and February. <br />o <br />The next Blood Drive is scheduled for November 5th; there are 4 more Blood Drives <br />scheduled thru September 2009. <br />o <br />The final CERT class will be November 20tH. VIPS will be helping out during the <br />final scenario as role players. <br />• <br />Almost all of the VIPS members will be attending the MN Citizen Corps Council <br />conference on November 14tH and 15tH <br />o <br />VIPS member Bob Parrott went to a conference and made contacts with State <br />personnel about the possibility of Project Life Saver covering the state. There are 7 <br />. <br />potential new clients for Project Life Saver. <br />o <br />On Sunday night, Channel 9 Fox News, Trish Van Pilsum will do a story on Project <br />Life Saver and will go out and "get lost" and see how long it takes us to find her. <br />o <br />VIPS will paint over graffiti, on the railroad bridge on Saturday. <br />Public Safety/Homeland Security Update <br />Director Jacobson noted the following items: <br />o <br />There was a SWAT call out on the 1000 block of 6th St SW. Officers initially <br />responded to loud party calls but the third time there, it was reported there was <br />someone in the house that had been assaulted and was being held against their will. <br />The victim was able to get out of the house and was not seriously hurt. The suspect <br />was arrested and charged with Assault in the Third Degree. <br />o <br />There was a'pedestrian fatality at County Road E and 16th Ave SW. We have asked <br />Ramsey County to take a look at this road to see if any improvements can be made. <br />o <br />There was a stabbing on the 1400 block of 20tH Ave NW where a 16 year old male got <br />in between a 20 year old female and a 23 year old male who were involved in a <br />domestic. The 16 year old male was stabbed one time in the chest which resulted in a <br />stab wound to his right heart ventricle. The two adults were arrested for Assault in <br />the First Degree. <br />o <br />The TCF Bank in Fridley was robbed and the suspect was chased into New Brighton. <br />He was arrested in the area of 14th St NW/20th Ave NW. The FBI is investigating. <br />
