<br />City of New Brighton <br />March 8, 1983 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Schmidt to <br />authorize the purchase of sweeper brooms, and <br />dirt shoe runners, from Old Dominion Brush <br />Company in the amount of $2,848.00. <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Harcus to <br />approve, renewal of a bingo license for St. <br />John's Mens Club for the period March 1, 1983 <br />to February 29, 1984, and to defer waiver <br />for posting of a fidelity bond for the <br />gambling manager until March 22, 1983. <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />City Manager reviewed staff report on <br />cooperative Services with Independent School <br />District 1621. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Benke to <br />direct staff to communicate and suggest <br />to Dr. Nygren and the ISD#62l School Board that <br />a meeting be held of staff representatives from <br />interested governmental units to define services <br />and activities in which economies can possibly <br />be effected and to report back to the elected <br />governmental bodies on those discussions. <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Harcus, seconded by Benke to <br />approve the appointment of Carolyn Barstad <br />to a position on the New Brighton Human <br />Rights commission for a term to expire on <br />December 31, 1985. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />3 Ayes - 0 Nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The City Council discussed the repairs to the <br />Downtown Liquor Operation. Staff and council- <br />members expressed concerns about the condition <br />and viability of the present facility and the <br />economics of a possible new facility downtown <br />or in an alternate location.
