if they were to take on some of our IT services. Based upon the financial analysis completed by
staff it appears that there would be no cost savings for the City of New Brighton if it were to
contract with the City of Roseville at this time.
Future Items -
As we all know our current economic times have made all government agencies look outside the
box for when it comes to providing services in the most proficient and cost effective manner
possible. City staff has been in contact with a number of government agencies regarding the
possibility of sharing IT related services. City staff has begun having conversations with the
Mounds View School District regarding the possibility of sharing equipment, staff, training, and
exploring joint purchasing ventures. Since we are all purchasing computers, printers, servers,
software, and other IT related items on a routine basis, both parties have agreed that this may be
an opportunity for all of us to work together and save money in the future. City staff will also
continue to have conversations with other government agencies (City of Columbia Heights, City
of Spring Lake Park, City of Fridley, and New Brighton -St. Anthony School District) on various
ways that we can work together and think of new ways of providing IT services in the most cost
effective manner possible.
R
the City Manager
r
