<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a special meeting of the New <br />Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, October 5, 1982 <br />at 6:40 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, <br />New Brighton, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gregg Harcus, Councilmembers Bob Benke, <br />Roger Blomquist, Jeanette Janecek, SteVe Schmidt <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />James Fornell, City Manager <br />John R. Crau, Acting Director of Finance <br />Maurice Anderson, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Russ Van Compel, City Accountant <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Maurice Anderson presented the City Council <br />with an update of Long Lake Park. Mr. Anderson <br />reported that a temporary injunction preventing <br />the City from selling the land, which had been <br />sought by the Long Lake Improvement Association, <br />was qenied on October 5, 1982. The Association's <br />only recourse is to appeal directly to the Supreme <br />Court. <br /> <br />Long Lake Park <br /> <br />Mr. Anderson further stated that the Hearing <br />Examiner recommended that an Environmental <br />Impact Statement be prepared. This recommendation <br />will be rev~ewed by the Environmental Quality Board <br />Technical Committee on November 9, 1982 and the <br />full Environmental Quality Board on November 18, 1982. <br /> <br />City Manager, James Farnell, reviewed the <br />contingency fund in the 1983 City budget. <br />The City Council discussed at length the <br />contingency account and proposed changes. <br />The City Council agreed to reduce the contingency <br />fund by $75,000 which has the effect of reducing <br />the levy by the same amount. <br /> <br />1983 City Budget <br />RESOLUTION #2634 <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Blomquist to waive <br />the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION ADOPTING BUDGETS <br />AND CERTIFYING TAX LEVY FOR THE YEAR 1983. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carred <br />
