<br />City of New Brighton <br />August II, 1981 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The city Attorney stated he concurred <br />with the contents of the letter of <br />August 11, 1981 from the Long Lake <br />Improvements Association attorney. <br /> <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Blomquist <br />to waive the reading and adopt a RESOLUTION <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO <br />EXECUTE THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT COVERING <br />LONG LAKE/RUSH LAKE REGIONAL PARK ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Janecek <br />to authorize staff to attempt to negotiate <br />with Mr. Palyan and Mr. Harstad for the <br />installation of the new storm sewer and <br />to report back at the August 25, 1981 <br />Council meeting. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />~r. Fritz Werdouschegg, member of the <br />New Brighton Environmental Quality Commission, <br />informed the Council of a study addressing <br />home water treatment devices. <br /> <br />II Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Schmidt to: <br /> <br />1) Authorize a Certificate of Indebtedness from <br />the Investment Fund of $200,000.00 at an <br />interest rate of 15% for 1981 to be used <br />for water testing, pump rental for Well #2, <br />'gradient pumping of Well #9, and the development <br />of Well #8 into the Mount Simon Hinckley aquifer; <br />2) To submit a report to the Department of Health <br />on the City's initial plans (#1) and possible <br />future well modifications. <br />3) To direct staff to prepare an engineering study <br />of diverting the southwest corner of the City <br />to Columbia Heights' water supply. <br /> <br />S ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Councilmember Janecek stated the Council was <br />invited to attend the September meeting of <br />the New Brighton Human Rights Commission. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Motion by Senden, seconded by Benke to <br />adjourn at 9:05 p.m. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />-5- <br /> <br />Storm Sewer <br />Petition <br />Report No. 81-169 <br /> <br />Update Water <br />Problem <br />Report No. 81-170 <br />
