<br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a regular meeting of the New Brighton <br />City Council was held Tuesday, November 24, 1981 at 7:30 p.m. <br />in the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, New Brighton, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: Mayor James Senden, Councilmernbers Bob Benke, <br />Jeanette Janecek, Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />fF"' <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Roger Blomquist <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />James Fornell, City Manager <br />Donald Lais, City Attorney <br />Les proper, Director of Public Works <br />James Winkels, Director of Community Development <br />John Grau, Assistant City Manager <br />Joan Archer, City Planner <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Benke to approve the <br />minutes of November 10, 1981 as presented. <br />1 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor with the consent of the Council directed <br />receipt of the Park Board minutes of November 4, 1981; <br />the Planning Commission minutes of November 17, 1981; <br />and the EQC minutes of November l2, 1981. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br />Mr. Gerry Bensing, representing the New <br />Brighton Environmental Quality Commission <br />(EQC), was present and reviewed a report <br />and resolution of the EQC regarding the <br />feasibility of the city involvement in the <br />solid waste problem, particularly in regard <br />to a City contract for hauling and resource <br />recovery. <br /> <br />Solid Waste Management <br />Report No. 8l-257 <br /> <br />The Mayor on behalf of the City Council <br />expressed appreciation to the EQC for their <br />efforts regarding the situtation. The Mayor <br />also stated that he felt that this was an <br />area that deserved further consideration <br />but noted the current staff priorities and <br />potential for problems created by the current <br />budget problems at the state and federal levels. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />i. <br />
