<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a regular meeting of the New <br />Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, May 12, 1981 <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, <br />New Brighton, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James Senden, Councilmembers Bob Benke, <br />Roger Blomquist, Jeanette Janecek, Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Donald L. Lais, City Attorney <br />Jim Winkels, Director of Community Development <br />Les Proper, Director of Public Works <br />Joan Archer, City Planner <br />Vern Pederson, City Clerk <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Schmidt to approve the <br />minutes of April 28, 1981 as presented. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />The Mayor with the consent of the Council directed <br />receipt and filing of the Human Rights Commission <br />minutes of April 6, 1981. <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br />The Mayor re-appointed Tom Morris <br />to the Civil Service Commission for <br />a term to expire December 31, 1983 <br />and appointed Geri Evans to complete <br />a term to expire December 31, 1981. <br /> <br />Civil Service <br />Commission <br />Appointments <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Schmidt to <br />confirm the Mayor's appointments. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Benke <br />to defer the appointment of a Planning <br />Commission Chairperson to the May 26, 1981 <br />City Council meeting. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Appointment of <br />Chairperson to <br />Planning Commission <br /> <br />Gayle Bromander, Vice-President of the <br />New Brighton Historical Society briefed <br />the Council on the Society's tentative <br />proposal to sponsor a steam engine ride <br />within New Brighton on July 4, 1981. <br /> <br />Historical Society <br />
