<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />December 23, 1980 <br /> <br />Council Business <br />Mr. Wayne Leonard, Ramsey County Engineer, <br />was present to discuss the proposed upgrading <br />of Old Highway #8 from 2nd Street NW to 6th <br />Street SW. Mr. Leonard presented a letter <br />regarding the walkway underneath the 500 <br />Line bridge. The Mayor with consent of the <br />Council directed receipt of the Soo Line <br />Company letter to Ramsey County and directed <br />that it be filed. <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Schmidt to set <br />a public hearing to consider the proposed <br />upgrading of Old Highway #8 from 2nd Street NW <br />to 6th Street SW for January 27, 1981 at 7:35 p.m. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist seconded by Benke to direct <br />staff to explore the possibility of an on-grade <br />pedestrian crossing at 8th Avenue south of <br />First Street NW. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Janecek <br />to place a 100 watt sodium vapor light <br />between the present street lights on the <br />north side of Mississippi Street west of <br />Rice Creek. <br />4 ayes - 1 naye (Benke) - motion carried <br /> <br />Motion by Blomquist, seconded by Schmidt <br />to accept the work on project 79-10B and <br />to authorize final payment to C. W. Houle, <br />Inc. in the amount of $67,098.31. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Mr. C. J.
