To this end we are
of training (which
hour sessions) for
of the City staff
recommending that there be two (2) days
can be broken into four (4), three (3)
the City department heads and other: members
as the City Manager deems appropriate.
The cost to the City for this training is $1,600. For that
amount, besides the training itself, we would receive con-
sultative services from the time the contract is signed
for 30 days after the last session. The materials for the
training would be developed uniquely for New Brighton and
copyrighted for our use, and BTW Associates will provide,
within 30 days of the last training session, a written
summary of the entire project for the City's future reference.
The Commission is under no illusion that this training in
itself will improve the City's AA position, but it does
believe that the training offered by BTW Associates, Znc.
is a necessary first step in showing that good supervision,
inclusive of sensitivity, means better supervision of protected
class employees. Effective implementation of the City's
AA/EEO plan, moreover, is not the work of a single day or
a single training session, but the result of long and
dedicated application to the spirit of the process.
The Human Rights Commission plans continued monitoring of
the situation, as one of its 1980-1981 goals and will attempt
to meet with the City department heads after the training
to discuss both it and the Human Rights Commission's role
in carrying out the intent of the City's Affirmative Action
plan.
=I:
