c' ,I ~~~~~ . . -, ......r . , .....Ii~ I I TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND TO THE HAYOR OP NEW BRIGHTON We, the undersigned residents of the City of New Brighton, all being of legal age and endowed with the right of sufferage in municipal elections, hereby petition the City Council to immediately cause the junction of Long Lake Road with 10th street NW to be re-opened. Closure of this inter- section is deemed by us to be most inadvisable, as: of time needed to obta~n ambulance help, of time needed to obtain fire department a) it" increases the length b) it increases the length assistance, c) it increases the length of time needed to obtain assistance from our local police, d) it increases the amount of travel time spent on roadways going through re,sidential neighborhoods, thereby increasing the danger to children in our community, e) the alternative routing currently being constructed to lead into the several apartment complexes found to the South and West of 10th Street mv is not scheduled to be completed or in usable con- dition until the summer of 1981, and is itself less satisfactory to us than the re-opening of 10th street NW both for the reasons cited above and for the economy that would be had through abandon- ing that far more costly construction in favor of the relatively simple and much less expensive re-opening of 10th Street NW onto Long Lake Road. Therefore, it is our request that you take speedy action to address the concerns we have hereinabove spelled out, and that you take notice of our resolve to remain informed of your actions and to express our approval or disapproval at the ballot box at our next opportunity.
