<br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a regular meeting of the New Brighton City <br />Council was held Tuesday, September II, 1979 at 7:30 p.m. in the <br />municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW New Brighton, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James Senden, Councilmembers, Bob Benke, Roger Blomquist, <br />Jeanette Janecek, Fritz Werdouschegg <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Donald L. Lais, City Attorney <br />Les Proper, Director of Public Works <br />Jim Winkels, Director of Community Development <br />Vernon C. Pederson, Clerk/Treasurer <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motion by Werdouschegg, seconded by Benke to approve the final draft <br />of the minutes of August 28, 1979 as presented. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br />Mr. James Buchmann, 1568 Long Lake Road, <br />appeared. He spoke in favor of designating <br />October as "respect life" month. <br /> <br />Respect Life Month <br /> <br />The Mayor, with the consent of the Council, <br />directed receipt and filing of a letter from <br />Reverend Rodger J. Buining, pastor of the <br />Faith Christian Reformed Church. in regard <br />to the subject. <br /> <br />Motion by Janecek, seconded by Werdouschegg <br />to take no action in regard to the petition <br />requesting October as "respect life" month. <br />S ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Larry Putnam, representing AAA, presented <br />the City a Pedestrian Safety Citation signifying <br />no traffic fatalities in the last five years in <br />the City of New Brighton.
