<br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS* <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a workshop meeting of the New <br />Brighton City Council was held Thursday, November 29, 1979 <br />at 8:00 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, <br />New Brighton, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James Senden, Councilmembers Bob Benke, <br />Roger Blomquist, Jeanette Janecek, Fritz werdouschegg <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Dennis S. Zylla, City Manager <br />Jim Winkels, Director of Community Development <br />Chuck Wood, Director of Liquor Operations <br /> <br />The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to <br />discuss the staff report on the downtown and the downtown <br />municipal liquor store. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reviewed the staff report on the downtown <br />and staff recommendations. <br /> <br />Mr. Walt Beggin, downtown property owner stated he was <br />in favor of getting going with the downtown development <br />and that they had a specific proposal for a sports arena <br />that they would like to present to the City Cbuncil. <br /> <br />Mr. Glen Beggin briefly reviewed the sports arena proposal. <br /> <br />After a lengthy discussion the Council suggested that the <br />rezoning of the downtown to B-4 be initiated at the December <br />11, 1979 Council meeting; that the proposed timetable should <br />be amended to show completion of the rezoning and concept <br />plan approval by March 1, 1980; that a flow chart should <br />be developed to show the various procedural steps; and, <br />that the Council would like to see a break-down of various <br />land values and current tax contribution of downtown <br />properties. The Council also decided to hold a special <br />meeting on December 6, 1979 to hear a presentation by <br />the Beggins regarding the sports arena. <br /> <br />The Council adjourned at 11:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />~ectfullY sUbm~d, <br />.--.4 PJ <br /> <br />.... ames F.
