<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS <br /> <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br /> <br />Pursuant to notice thereof a regular meeting of the New <br />Brighton City Council was held Tuesday, January 8, 1980 <br />at 7:30 p.m. in the municipal building, 803 5th Avenue NW, <br />New Brighton, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mayor James Senden, Councilmembers Bob Benke, <br />Roger Blomquist, Jeanette Janecek, Steve Schmidt <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Also <br />Present: <br /> <br />Dennis S. Zylla, City Manager <br />Donald L. Lais, City Attorney <br />Jim Winkels, Director of Community Development <br />Vernon C. Pederson, Clerk <br />Les Proper, Director of Public Works <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Blomquist to approve the <br />minutes of December 26, 1979 as presented. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />Special Order of Business <br />Mayor Senden acknowledged receipt of the $100 donation to <br />the City of New Brighton in lieu of taxes from the Salem <br />Baptist Church. <br /> <br />Motion by Senden, seconded by Benke to direct staff to express <br />the City's gratification for the gift in lieu of taxes. <br />5 ayes - 0 nayes - motion carried <br /> <br />nayor Senden noted that 1979 was a year of <br />many accomplishments for the City and that <br />much was also expected for 1980. <br /> <br />Hayor's Organi Zd tiu!' <br />Statement <br /> <br />~1ayor Senden welcomed new Councilmember Steve <br />Schmidt and indicated that the Council was <br />looking forward to working with him during <br />his Council term. <br /> <br />Mayor Senden noted that as we begin the new year, <br />the City is in sound financial condition, though <br />as a result of the recent drop in building activity <br />
