Of
"
W cite that wrrks kr yxr
Memo
Date: May 28, 2009
To: Dean Lotter, City Manager
From: Grant Fernelius, Community Development Director
Janice Gundlach, City Plannerj%
Subject: June 2nd Work Session Discussion on Land Use and
Zoning Matters
Introduction
In preparation for next Tuesday's work session discussion, staff has prepared the
following memo. The Council policy docket listed the potential topics as "site
surveys, site engineering, no neighborhood meetings and escrow requirements."
In general, we believe some of these issues have been discussed in the recent
past or will be evaluated as part of potential Zoning Code/procedural
amendments in the coming months.
We thought it might be helpful to review what has been discussed with the
Planning Commission. In addition, it will be helpful to understand the Council's
priorities with regard to these policy issues, since considerable staff will be
required to process possible changes. We also want to communicate these
priorities to the Planning Commission because of its role in recommending
changes to Zoning Code.
Background
There has been a lot of discussion over the last 6 months about updating the
City's Zoning Code. In February, the Planning Commission prepared a list of
potential list of code amendments. We also shared the list with the City Council
in the February 20th Friday Memo. The Commission has since started to work
through some of these topics. Additionally, topics beyond this list have been
brought to staffs attention.
0
