This project <br />consists of safety improvements to the Silver Lake Road Bridge over I694. <br />Legislative History: <br />January 9, 2007: Council approval to seek (SRTS) Grant <br />October 9, 2007: Council accepted SRTS Grant <br />January 22, 2008: Council approval to enter into project contract with MnDOT <br />January 26, 2009: Council entered into Design Phase Engineering Services Agreement with WSB. <br />Financial Impact: The estimated project costs are: <br />Construction *$125,000 <br />Engineering $ 25,000 <br />is Total Project Costs $150,000 <br />*The project is being bid with two options for ornamental metal railings. These options and costs will be <br />presented to the Council for consideration at the time of the bid award. <br />Explanation: Project 08-7 consists of pedestrian -related enhancements and safety improvements to the Mn/DOT <br />Silver Lake Road Bridge over 1694. Work includes the removal of the existing chain link fence, installation of <br />new ornamental metal railing at the edge of the east edge of the bridge sidewalk and on top of the existing <br />concrete bridge barrier, and crosswalk modifications to the "pork chop" at the entrance ramp to east bound I694. <br />Generally, the project is bounded by the north and south freeway ramps along the east sidewalk. <br />The proposed project schedule is as follows: <br />June 9, 2009 City Council Approves Project and Authorizes Advertisement for Bids <br />August 6, 2009 Bid Opening <br />August 11 or 25, 2009 Award Project; depends on all Federal approvals <br />November 15, 2009 Final Completion <br />Costs and Funding: $100,000 of the $175,000 Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant awarded in 2007 will be used <br />to fund Project 08-7, Safe Routes to School — Silver Lake Road Bridge Improvements. Up to $50,000 in funding <br />for the remainder of this project will come from excess MSA funds residing in Fund 422. These MSA funds will <br />be used for the, rebuilding of the free -right turn lane and "pork chop" area. <br />G rl t M. Wyff , P.
