REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION
0
ITEM DESCRIPTION: Council Worksession Summary Report
DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL:
CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL:
No comments to supplement this report Comments attached
At the June 9, 2009 Worksession the Council discussed two topics.
09-151
V-2
June 23, 2009
1. NWQ Update — Staff provided an update on three outstanding projects. Relocation of the
Qwest fiber optics at the 14`x' Street and Old Highway 8 intersection — Council directed staff to
move the fiber optics, but check with the City Attorney to see if any case law existed that
required Qwest to move their utilities. Additionally the cleanup of the railroad right of way on
the west side and the Suburban propane site was discussed. Council agreed that the railroad
should be cleaned up so that all of the grant money available ($62,000) is used up. If there is
cleanup remaining, federal dollars should be sought. Council directed staff to do nothing with the
Suburban Propane site at this time.
2. Staff discussed the recycling contract with Council. Options were provided ranging from
going out for RFPs to negotiating new fees and different services with Waste Management.
Council directed staff to negotiate fees with Waste Management and report back to them.
(za.- V* -
Dean R.
