No testimony was given. The Commission recommended unanimous approval.
Numerous amendments to the Main Street Village Comprehensive Sign Plan have been approved in the
past, most recently in November of 2008 for the post office.
Financial Impact: Not applicable
Explanation: The applicant is requesting an amendment to the previously approved, and amended,
Comprehensive Sign Plan governing allowed signage at Main Street Village. Specifically, the proposed
amendment would allow erection of a ground sign at the southeast corner of the CU Companies property
for the benefit of CU Companies. The proposed sign measures 7' x 10'6" or 73.5 SF with a graphic area
of 4.5' x 8' or 36 SF. The proposed location at the southeast corner of 500 Main Street is setback 10'
from Main Street and approximately 5' from County Road E2. Worth noting, the undeveloped right-of-
way on County Road E2 is nearly 25', meaning the proposed sign would be setback 30' from the curb of
County Road E2.
Staff and the Planning Commission considered the request in accordance with Zoning Code Sections 9-
041 and 8-130 and found all criteria have been met. Thus, staff recommends approval of the request as
submitted.
The following are attached for reference: A) Approval Resolution, B) Planning Reports & Exhibits
dated 7/15/2009.
Costs and Funding: Not applicable
Janice Gundlach
City Planner
