Sec. <br />A <br />Division 5 - Public Safety Commission <br />2-130. Established. <br />Safety Commission shall be established for the City. (Ord. No. 610, 12-13-94; Code of 200 1) <br />Sec. (;-131. Purpose. <br />The rpose of this Conunission shall be to advise the City Council on matters that relate to the goals, <br />poli i s, and operation of public safety functions and human rights issues, and maintain a liaison with the <br />Poli Civil Service Commission. (Ord. Nov 610, 12-13-94; Ord. No. 626, 2-11-97; Code of 2001) <br />Sec. -132. Duties and Responsibilities. <br />The Jaties and responsibilities of this Commission shall be to: <br />(1) sist the Public Safety Department in assessing community attitudes towards and concerns about <br />publ safety services. <br />(2) A., sist the Public Safety Department in developing long range strategic plans. <br />(3) A. sist the Public Safety Department in developing and monitoring achievement of perfortnance <br />mea res regarding strategic plan goals and objectives. <br />(4) P e rform other duties as directed by the City Council. Human Rights. <br />Up to three members of the Commission shall be appointed to assume the duties and responsibilities <br />nece sary to oversee human rights issues for the City including: <br />(1) P icipation in regional human rights organizations and endeavors on behalf of New Brighton, <br />pard larly with the Minnesota League of Human Rights Commission. <br />(2) Monitor and advise the City Council on efforts to create equal opportunity and eliminate <br />discr inination.
