A Storm Sewer <br />Improvement Taxing District is an area within the territorial limits of a municipality. <br />The municipality may acquire, construct, maintain, and otherwise improve storm sewer <br />systems and related facilities within the district for the benefit of the district. The costs <br />involved may be recovered by levying tax on all taxable properties within the district. <br />The City is required to certify the 2010 proposed tax levies for the Storm Sewer <br />Improvement Taxing Districts on or before September 15`' to Ramsey County. This is <br />the same requirement as the proposed City-wide tax levy, <br />Separate tax levies for both Lake Diane and Bicentennial Pond have been levied for a <br />number of years in the past. <br />Financial Impact: These tax levies are only on taxable properties within the specific <br />district. The City Council has previously approved both of these respective projects. <br />The proposed tax levies for payable in 2010 are the same amount as they are for taxes <br />payable in 2009. <br />Explanation: The Public Works Director has recommended these proposed levies for <br />taxes payable in 2010. It is recommended that $2,250 for Lake Diane and $2,000 for <br />Bicentennial Pond be included as the proposed 2010 tax levy.
