0 <br />'ftVBRKAff <br />the city that works for ,you <br />Report Number <br />Agenda Section <br />Council Meeting Date <br />PROCLAMATION <br />09-21.9 <br />V-1 <br />September 22, 2009 <br />WHEREAS Rick Wriskey, joined the New Brighton Parks and Recreation Department <br />on January 13, 1977; and <br />WHEREAS <br />During the course of his 32 years of service, Rick has planted over 8,000 <br />trees, removed over 10,000 diseased oaks, elms and hazardous trees and <br />planted tens of thousands of shrubs, perennials and flowers; and <br />WHEREAS <br />During his career Rick has served as the original Forester with one of the <br />longest lasting joint powers programs in Minnesota in conjunction with the <br />City of Mound View,for 29 years; and <br />WHERAS <br />During his employment Rick has coordinated Tree City USA designation for <br />both New Brighton and Mound View spanning 28 consecutive years; and <br />WHEREAS <br />During his career Rick has lowered Oak Wilt disease loss rate , from over <br />300 red oaks per year to a present day average of 15 red oaks per year; and <br />WHEREAS <br />During the course of his 32 years of service, Rick has coordinated the <br />forestry response of clean-up, repair and tree replacement for over 10 <br />major storms including; <br />The 1984 Tornado; <br />The 1996 Ice Storm; <br />➢ The 1998 Wind Event; <br />The 2005 Wind Event; and <br />WHEREAS Rick's legacy will continue to remain a large part of the _fabric, tradition <br />and history of the City of New Brighton; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, in recognition of his 32 years of service to the citizens <br />of New Brighton, members of the Parks and Recreation staff and all other City staff, we offer our <br />sincerest congratulations to: <br />and extend our heartfelt thanks, and our_fondest wishes for a happy, healthy, and extremely long <br />retirement. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of New <br />Brighton, Minnesota to be affixed this 22nd day of <br />September, 2009. <br />0 Steve Larson — Mayor Dean R.
