<br />"... 11<1- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 01- 075 <br /> <br />City of New Brighton <br />Ramsey County <br />State of Minnesota <br /> <br />Resolution Declaring the Maximum Preliminary Tax Levy for Taxes Payable in 2002 <br /> <br />Whereas, the City has completed initial work on the 2002-2004 Strategic Plan; <br /> <br />Whereas, the initial work shows a need for a tax levy of$5,229,375 for taxes payable in 2002; <br /> <br />; : Whereas, the details for this tax need are as shown here: <br /> <br />General operations <br />Bonded debt <br />Equipment certificates <br />PERA adjustment <br />TOTAL LEVY <br /> <br />$3,480,686 <br />$1,230,000 <br />$505,875 <br />$12,814 <br />$5,229,375 <br /> <br />. Whereas, a maximum of $2,000 may be levied for the Lake Diane Special District; <br /> <br />Whereas, the proposed levy is $1,747,375 above the levy for taxes payable in 2001; <br /> <br />Whereas, the increase in the levy is caused by the following factors: <br /> <br />Loss of State aids <br />Additional debt service for Public Safety Building <br />Operational cost increases/loss of non-tax revenue <br />Increase in capital requirements <br />Increase in cost of State adjusted PERA <br />TOTAL LEVY INCREASE <br /> <br />$ 969,500 <br />$ 402,000 <br />$ 302,386 <br />$ 60,675 <br />$ 12,814 <br />$1,747,375 <br /> <br />Whereas, the proposed levy represents an increase in the tax rate; <br /> <br />, . Whereas, the proposed levy is less than the levy limit set by the State; <br /> <br />Now, therefore be it resolved that: <br /> <br />1. The proposed maximum levy for taxes payable in 2002 shall be $5,229,375. <br /> <br />2. The proposed levy represents an increase of$I,747,375 over the levy for 2001. <br /> <br />3. The proposed levy for debt shall be as shown on Attachment A. The levy reductions are <br />possible because of the pledge of other resources. <br />
