- 5— <br /> Burg stated Wyffels met with the rail road 6 times in order to get easements from them. <br /> Breuer said Council also commented that the bike trail would not connect to any other <br /> bike trail because Ramsey County does not have any bike trails in Long Lake Park. <br /> Meyer commented that he feels every resident should be able to listen to these minutes <br /> on cable at home. <br /> Burg stated there are some big corporations that are lobbying for the change of public <br /> access. They are trying to convince our legislators that this type of access is not <br /> necessary. Right now everyone in our 10 city cable access network has the right to have <br /> free government access to your home. Many organizations are working to keep free <br /> access to these government channels. A work session is coming up. A decision will be <br /> made in February. <br /> Trevorrow said he wanted to give thanks to Breuer and staff for Rick Wriskey's <br /> retirement party. Hope the City is planning on replacing the City Forester. There is a <br /> quality of life in New Brighton that needs to be kept.Rope the Council will not be short <br /> when making some of these cuts because you have to look at the long range and why <br /> people want to live in the City of New Brighton. <br /> VII. Staff Report-Cindy Tranby,Recreation Supervisor <br /> Breuer introduced Cindy Tranby,Recreation Supervisor with the City a little over 4 <br /> years. <br /> Her concentrated efforts are in Aquatics, Safety Programs such as CPR, First Aid, <br /> babysitting classes and Soccer. The aquatics program is a shared position with St. <br /> Anthony. Tranby gave a power point presentation covering New Brighton/St. Anthony <br /> Aquatics, Safety Training, Soccer,Water Rescue Training and Staff Training. <br /> Meyer stated the importance of every child learning to swim. <br /> Tranby stressed the importance of learning to swim as well and added that it is never too <br /> late to learn. <br /> IX. Announcements <br /> A. Chair Updates <br /> November 4th is the Trails Committee meeting at 5:30 p.m. and Parks, Recreation and <br /> Environmental Commission at 6:30 p.m. This will be the Skateboard Park/Public <br /> Comment meeting. <br /> Breuer gave the following updates: <br /> • There is a Board and Commission Symposium coming up. Everyone should <br /> have received a flyer with the information. This year it will be held in the City <br /> of Rosemont. <br />
