Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Frischman II. Roll Call Present: Commissioners Frischman, Harreld, Meyer, Norton, Samuelson, Trevorrow and Council Liaison Burg, Sandy Breuer, Director of Parks and Recreation, Jodelle Olson, Office Assistant Absent: Commissioner Heinrich Also Present: Adam Parker, Trails Committee Chair; Officer Hamdorf-, Jeanne Lyke, resident; Jake, Skateboarder; Michelle Schicker, Freedom Park area resident; Ray Tandeski, VIPs' member; Janice Gundlach, City Planner; Rob Viera, Clearwire Communications. III. Minutes of October 14, 2009 MOTION BY SAMUELSON, SECONDED BY HARRELD, TO APPROVE THE OCTOBER 14, 2009 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. IN. Trails Committee Update — Adam Parker; Chair Skate Park Update Parker stated the Committee is working on getting State or otherfunding for a study on bike lane safety. We are pursuing this with the Public Works Director. Another area of focus is the area near Irondale High School. There is some land up for sale and we are trying to get some access or potential land purchase. The Trails Committee continues to work toward getting trail access in the Irondale area and possible connection to the Northwest Quadrant. We are working toward trail access and safety. "Complete Streets" compliments what the Trails Committee is doing. The next meeting is scheduled for January 6, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Anyone is welcome to attend. V. Skate Park Update — Officer Hamdorf / Public Comment Officer Hamdorf asked skateboarder Jake and resident Michelle Schicker to join him at the podium. He gave a short power point presentation. Areas he touched on were: • Background was given on Skate Park. • The user's commitment to the community. • Decrease in calls for service at Freedom Park. • Direct accomplishments. • Financial Stewardship. • Indirect Accomplishments. • Reasons for Success. • Collaborative Effort. Michelle Schricker stated she really appreciates all that Officer Hamdorf has done and all the skateboarders. We are really happy with the progress in the park. Want to keep up with maintenance, trash and calling Public Safety when they see something. Catherine Martin was a big organizer and helped get the school playground equipment maintained. Overall, the residents feel that we have accomplished something and we need to keep it up. We have come a long way in a few short months.
