Call to Order <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Frischman <br />II. Roll Call <br />Present: Commissioners Frischman, Harreld, Meyer, Norton, Samuelson, Trevorrow and <br />Council Liaison Burg, Sandy Breuer, Director of Parks and Recreation, Jodelle Olson, Office <br />Assistant <br />Absent: Commissioner Heinrich <br />Also Present: Adam Parker, Trails Committee Chair; Officer Hamdorf-, Jeanne Lyke, resident; <br />Jake, Skateboarder; Michelle Schicker, Freedom Park area resident; Ray Tandeski, VIPs' <br />member; Janice Gundlach, City Planner; Rob Viera, Clearwire Communications. <br />III. Minutes of October 14, 2009 <br />MOTION BY SAMUELSON, SECONDED BY HARRELD, TO APPROVE THE OCTOBER <br />14, 2009 MINUTES AS SUBMITTED. MOTION CARRIED. <br />IN. Trails Committee Update — Adam Parker; Chair Skate Park Update <br />Parker stated the Committee is working on getting State or otherfunding for a study on bike lane <br />safety. We are pursuing this with the Public Works Director. Another area of focus is the area <br />near Irondale High School. There is some land up for sale and we are trying to get some access or <br />potential land purchase. The Trails Committee continues to work toward getting trail access in <br />the Irondale area and possible connection to the Northwest Quadrant. We are working toward <br />trail access and safety. "Complete Streets" compliments what the Trails Committee is doing. The <br />next meeting is scheduled for January 6, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Anyone is welcome to <br />attend. <br />V. Skate Park Update — Officer Hamdorf / Public Comment <br />Officer Hamdorf asked skateboarder Jake and resident Michelle Schicker to join him at the <br />podium. He gave a short power point presentation. Areas he touched on were: <br />• Background was given on Skate Park. <br />• The user's commitment to the community. <br />• Decrease in calls for service at Freedom Park. <br />• Direct accomplishments. <br />• Financial Stewardship. <br />• Indirect Accomplishments. <br />• Reasons for Success. <br />• Collaborative Effort. <br />Michelle Schricker stated she really appreciates all that Officer Hamdorf has done and all the <br />skateboarders. We are really happy with the progress in the park. Want to keep up with <br />maintenance, trash and calling Public Safety when they see something. Catherine Martin was a <br />big organizer and helped get the school playground equipment maintained. Overall, the residents <br />feel that we have accomplished something and we need to keep it up. We have come a long way <br />in a few short months. <br />
