Northwest Quadrant Report • r Federal Funding Requests The City Council authorized staff to prepare a federal funding request for the Northwest Quadrant. This request focuses on removal of additional dump material in Block E (see map below; area highlighted in red). As part of the dump closure project, the City removed materials from the perimeter of Block E, but approximately 60,000 cubic yards of material was left in place. Most of this material is relatively deep (30' to 45') and is estimated to cost about $3.OM to remove. The City is seeking $2.OM in federal funding to help pay for about 2/3 of the project cost. The remaining fund ($1.0M) would come from the City's • municipal development fund. The request was submitted to the Congressional delegation as part of the Fiscal Year 2011 appropriations process, which will begin on October 0 of this year.
