Burg stated the Council is being sensitive to the fact that there are a lot of people <br />who are out of work. <br />toHarreld asked if anyone in New Brighton was working toward getting the <br />unallotment money back. Burg stated she was not aware of anyone working on <br />that. In the past the Mayor and City Manager have gone to legislative sessions. <br />She expects that will continue some time in the future. <br />VII. Staff Report <br />MOTION BY HARRELL, SECONDED BY HEINRICH, TO ADD PAT TUMA TO THE <br />AGENDA AS SPEAKER TONIGHT. MOTION CARRIED. <br />A. Pat Tuma — Staff Report <br />Breuer introduced Pat Tuma. She thanked the Commission for recognizing staff <br />for what they are doing. There are a lot of staff present this evening. Pat has taken <br />on new responsibilities. Pat has taken on some of the duties which Andy Soltvedt <br />had been doing. In October we lost Recreation Supervisor Cindy Tranby. She <br />wanted to recognize Pat for all of the extra work she -has taken on with the Senior <br />programs. Pat gave a power point presentation. The presentation covered 2009 <br />accomplishments, recreation programs, adult sports, adult sport revenue, adaptive <br />recreation, adaptive revenue, Ed -Ventures Daycare, youth programs, active life <br />50+ programs, recreation pro"grarns and looking to the future. <br />Frischman commented: as always, fabulous Pat. Trevorrow said you are doing a <br />very, very good job. Trevorrow mentioned again that people do not realize how <br />much you've had to pick up the slack. Kudos to all the staff. <br />Tuma noted that it is; not only full time staff, but part-time staff that are stepping <br />up and helps g out. <br />Frischman encouraged residents to invest in New Brighton Soccer program. There <br />are other programs in'other cities but support New Brighton's program. <br />VIII. New Business <br />A. Chair Elections / Recommendation for Council <br />MOTION BY FRISCHMAN, SECONDED BY HARRELD, TO NOMINATE <br />JOEL NORTON AS CHAIR. MOTIONED CARRIED. <br />Breuer mentioned that the recommendation will go before the Council at their <br />next meeting. She also mentioned that newly appointed Commission members <br />could start at the meeting of April 71h <br />Frischman added that she would still like to see 9 members on this Commission. <br />Because the Park and Recreation Department is so overwhelmed, and not having <br />the appropriate level of staffing, as a Commission we try to do what we can to <br />support them. Harreld agreed. Harreld stated the more members we have living in <br />different areas of the City, the better it is for our parks and programming. <br />IX. Announcements <br />A.
