ORDINANCE NO. <br />787 <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDMENT <br />RELATED TO COMMISSIONS <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON ORDAINS that the New <br />tton Code of Ordinance is amended by amending City Code Section 2-63(5) and <br />as follows: <br />2-63 Term Limits <br />A commission or committee member that has served the maximum number of terms <br />allowed by the City is required to take a one year break from serving on that particular <br />commission or committee. The member may then apply for reappointment to a different <br />commission or committee after their term limit has expired. <br />2-64 Chairperson <br />Each commission shall annually recommend a chairperson to the Council for formal approval. <br />• Council may aunoint any member. The City Council shall annually confirm a chairperson to <br />resent each commission or committee. The chairperson will be expected to provide leadership <br />the commission and to facilitate the conduct of regular meetings. <br />The following criteria shall be used when selecting the chairperson. <br />A. The member has a served a minimum of one year term on the commission. <br />B. The member has a good attendance record and expects to be able to make all meetings <br />while serving as chairperson. <br />C. The member has demonstrated leadership and involvement in past activities of the <br />commission. <br />D. The member has demonstrated the ability to understand and further the City's overall <br />mission, specifically relating to the commission's responsibilities. <br />A commission or committee chair that is appointed by its members the Council shall serve <br />__ ______-__= one years in this capacity and may be reapyointed. <br />Any chairperson may be removed from office by a majority vote of the City Council. <br />(Underline reflects new language, Egli reflects deleted language) <br />
