RESOLUTION NO.
10-017
STATE OF MINNESOTA
COUNTY OF RAmsEY
CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON
IDENTIFYING SUPPORT OF FEDERAL FUNDING INITIATIVES THROUGH THE FISCAL
2011 FEDERAL APPROPRIATIONS BILL.
EAs, through much discussion the City Council has collectively determined that in order
et redevelopment goals within the Northwest Quadrant Redevelopment Area it is in the
s financial best interest to seek federal funding dollars, and
REAS, Block E of the Northwest Quadrant Redevelopment Area currently contains 60,000
nc yards of capped dump material, which if removed could allow for better reuse of the site
commercial uses, and
the financial impact of removing 60,000 cubic yards of dump material is
Lely $3,000,000, which is beyond the city's financial capabilities, and
the proximity of Block E to regional transit and park attributes, in addition to access
transportation, all suggest the site is highly desirable for commercial uses, and
REAS, redevelopment of Block E with a commercial use provides opportunities to increase
City's tax base and provide job growth within the community.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of New Brighton supports
is to seek federal dollars through the FY 2011 appropriations process, specifically for
D0,000 to aid in additional dump removal for Block E, by submitting these requests to
zresswoman McCollum, Senator Klobuchar, and Senator Franken.
this 9a' day of March, 2010.
1'1'ES
3niel A. Masers, Director of Finance
4 SupporbSeiVices / City Clerk
Dave Jakbbsen,
