L� <br />X. <br />11 <br />Announcements <br />a <br />Is <br />-7- <br />Chair Updates <br />Norton reiterated that there is a Town Hall meeting on Saturday, May 22"d <br />Department Happenings / upcoming events <br />Breuer stated that in the interest of time she would not read the Department <br />Happenings. The listening public can register to receive the Department <br />Happenings by going online. We put together our accomplishments of the <br />previous month. Sticking to our Strategic Plan; the 5 things we are committed to; <br />improving health, protecting natural resources, fostering healthy youth <br />development, and sustaining fiscal responsibility. <br />Breuer mentioned the Spring Tree Sale coming up April 17t`. The deadline to <br />order is April 91h. With the Emerald Ash Borer threat, it is a good idea to starting <br />thinking about planting trees. Breuer thanked Commissioner Trevorrow, and the <br />"old" Forestry Board, who helped Chris Wolla and herself with this project. <br />The following Saturday (April 24`h) is our Arbor Day celebration at Hansen Park. <br />We will be planting trees. Rain or shine. <br />Breuer stated that this year we asked residents if they wanted to donate a tree. She <br />stated she would have been excited to get 1 or 2 trees, but has already received 5 <br />so far. <br />Breuer stated she attended an Emerald Ash Borer meeting in Roseville. She has <br />copies if anyone is interested. <br />We sponsored the National Playground Safety Institute Training at the FSC this <br />year. Sixty-five Park Maintenance employees were here at our facility. The <br />National Training was co-sponsored by the Minnesota Recreation and Parks <br />Association. <br />Breuer also talked about Community Reinvestment and mentioned that the Golf <br />Course is open. The weather allowed us to open early. Residents can get out and <br />enjoy the golf course. <br />Breuer said last week we were once again recognized as a Tree City USA which <br />is our 28`h consecutive year. <br />Breuer stated she would like to take a photo next month of commissioners <br />because we have two new members. The photo will be taken after the meeting. <br />Adjourn <br />MOTION BY TREVORROW, SECONDED BY STRUB, TO ADJOURN THE MEETING AT <br />8:46 P.M. MOTION CARRIED. <br />
