The Northwest Quadrant and
Long Lake Regional Park are bisected by a private rail line. The purpose of this project is to provide safe
access to the park by improving the connection on the west side of Old Highway 8 NW, at the southern end
of the development (under the existing railroad bridge).
All contract work has been satisfactorily completed and accepted by staff.
Costs and Funding: Funding for this project will come from a 1,000 Bench ALRC grant, a Local Trail
Connection Program Grant, and the City's Park Dedication Fund. The Local Trail Connection Program
Grant is a 50/50 "cash match" reimbursement grant. This means the grantee (New Brighton) must complete
the project and fully pay for it, produce documentation that shows actual expenditures and then New
Brighton will receive half of what was spent up to $100,000. The current project does not spend 100 percent
of the grant.
fv
0 Grant Ni Wyffel , P.E.
Director of Public Works
Attachment
