TCAAP Update
Director Fernelius did not attend an informational meeting on the status of the Twin City Army
Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) hosted by the City of Arden Hills. The presentation included a
historical overview of the project and the City's current efforts to redevelop the site.
The current plan calls for the prospective buyer to complete the remaining environmental clean-
up, although the Army is financially responsible for remediation to an industrial standard. The
City of Arden Hills has affirmed its vision for the area as a mixed-use development, with
residential, commercial, light industrial, park and open space uses.
Director Fernelius stated the TCAPP project is years behind the NWQ development, but New
Brighton should pay attention as a close neighbor to the project.
Phillips reported an auction will occur in June -July; where approximately 400 acres will be
auctioned, the majority will stay with the National Guard.
Railroad Wye
Director Fernelius reported it has been discouraging working with Canadian Pacific, whose
corporate offices are in Calgary, Canada. The implication to New Brighton is that grant funds
could be lost if unable to secure a deal in the next few weeks.
Adiournment
Motion by Commissioner Flahave, seconded by Commissioner Vasquez to adjourn.
6 ayes, 0 nays.
Motion Approved.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 a.m.
