DEPARTMENT HEAD'S APPROVAL: tome/ CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: No comments to suonlement this Comments attached Recommendation: To approve the Ffud Payment, Payment 15 in the amount of $28,201.77 to Veit and Company, Inc., for Project 07-5, Old Miller Dump Closure Plan. Legislative History: On May 28, 2008, the City Council ordered this project and approved the plans and specifications, and on July 22, 2008, authorized the advertisement for bids. Bids were opened on August 28 and the Council awarded a contract to the low bidder, Veit and Company, Inc., on September 8, 2008 in the amount of $4,552,943.25. Change Order's 1-10 were approved in the amount of $1,089,546.07, bringing the approved project total to $5,642,489.32. Financial Impact: Please see attached payment breakdown for details. Explanation: Project 07-5 consists of work associated with the dump closure of the Old Miller Dump site east of Old Highway 8 NW in the area of the Post Office. Work was completed on this project in 2009, however, the Contractor agreed to the City withholding a one-half of one percent (0.5%) retainage over the winter months as assurance that the Rice Creek Watershed District and M.P.C.A. permits were properly closed out and all turf was established. This spring Veit and Company reestablished vegetation, removed silt fence, and repaired washouts. Staff recommends that Final Payment for Project 07-5 be issued. Costs and Funding: The construction portion of this project is being funded from a combination of funding sources including a DEED grant, a Metropolitan Council grant, and TIF Bond proceeds. 4 I Grant M. yffels, PA Director of Public Works Attachment
