Developing contaminated sources management strategies Meeting <br />Repeat No. 10.187 <br />New Brighton has eleven wells, six were classified as vulnerable (wells 3, 4, 5, 6, 14 and 15) ane <br />five were classified as not vulnerable (wells 8, 9, 10, 11, 12). <br />Mayor Jacobsen questioned the depth of the most vulnerable wells. Mr. Greer responded the <br />most vulnerable wells would be in the Prairie Du Chien reservoir. Director Wyffels noted that <br />the Department of Health has administered this plan to keep all communities in compliance. The <br />detect levels on the vulnerable wells after the carbon filter processing is completed were <br />described as non -detect. Councilmember Burg questioned how long it takes water to get through <br />the aquifers. Mr. Greer responded it can vary anywhere from weeks, months, decades or as long <br />as 10,000 years from the Mt. Simon aquifer. Councilmember Bauman questioned if New <br />Brighton has a lot of fluoride in its water supply. Director Wyffels explained that the city is <br />required to fluoridate its water supply within established guidelines. Councilmember Samuelson <br />suggested residents obtain the City's Consumer Confidence report or visit the City's website for <br />more information on the City's water supply. Director Wyffels suggested any interested parties <br />could set up a tour of the water treatment plant. <br />Mayor Jacobsen opened the Public Hearing at 6:55 pm, <br />Mayor Jacobsen asked for comments from the audience, there were none. <br />Motion by Councibnember Samuelson, seconded by Councilmember Bauman to close the Public <br />Hearing, <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />The Public Hearing was closed at 6:55 pm. <br />Council Business <br />I. Consideration ofApplication for a Solicitor License, Walters Recycling & Refuse. Report No. 10-185. <br />'Moved from Consent Agenda.. <br />City Manager Lotter introduced the item, stating solicitor licenses require council approval. Rob <br />Noterman, representing Walters Recycling and Refuse reported they will be looking for new <br />customers in the City of New Brighton. Mr. Noterman stated they will be soliciting door to door <br />and will not approach homes with "No Soliciting" signs posted. <br />Motion by Councilmember Bauman, seconded by Councilmember Samuelson to issue a solicitor <br />license to Walters Recycling & Refuse, Inc. valid from August 12, 2010 until October 12, <br />2010. <br />4 Ayes, 0 Nays -Motion Carried <br />Council Business <br />I.
