In fiscal year 2010, Congress reauthorized the
AFG and appropriated a total of$390,000,000 to the DHS Office of Grants and Training to carry
out the activities of the AFG program.
Financial Impact:
The approved project costs total to $71,150. The New Brighton
Department of Public Safety Fire Division will use existing operational budget monies for our
share of the required match.
Explanation:
The purpose of the AFG program is to award grants directly to fire departments in order to more
effectively protect the health and safety of the public and their emergency response personnel
with respect to fire and all other hazards. The funds will allow for the purchase of a new
firefighter personal protective equipment and communications pagers for use by the Fire
Division.
1 ettf.f.Ne
Anthony S.
