Jacobson, Director of Public Safe if <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to supplement this re or ' Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Accept the monetary and in kind gift donations for the Santa Cop Program. <br /> Legislative History: <br /> N/A <br /> Financial Impact: <br /> Receipt of$10,762 in cash and in kind donations of toys, clothing and gifts. <br /> Explanation: <br /> The New Brighton Santa Cop program began in 1995 and has grown and continued to this day. <br /> The Santa Cop program is designed to assist families in the New Brighton area who are in need <br /> of assistance during the holiday season. The current program has been coordinated for several <br /> years by Officer Kathy McNeely and Officer Mary Bitzan. In 2010, the Santa Cop program <br /> assisted 71 families to include 97 children with gifts and clothing for the holiday season. The <br /> gifts are supplied entirely through cash and in kind donations to the Santa Cop program. We <br /> are very grateful, and humbled, by the generosity of the many donors, many of whom wish to <br /> remain anonymous, from our community.
