Continuation of Public Improvement Hearing to Consider Project 10-10, Old Highway 8 NW <br />Sidewalk ReportNo. 11-056. Resolution No. 11-011. <br />City Manager Lotter reported the Public Hearing was opened at the January 25, 2011 meeting, council <br />decided to continue the Public Hearing to tonight's meeting to allow City Staff the opportunity to talk <br />'with the Parks, Recreation & Environmental Commission. <br />Director of Public Works Grant Wyffels reported he and City Engineer Craig Schlichting attended the <br />recent PREC meeting to discuss the sidewalk with the commission. <br />City Engineer Craig Schlichting reported the project is still on schedule. An overview of the project was <br />presented, The estimated project costs are $170,000. <br />Director Wyffels stated the project was being considered because of a petition received from the <br />residents of Applewood Point. As part of the City's comprehensive plan, the northern portion of the <br />sidewalk is to be an 8 foot wide bituminous trail; the southerly portion would be a concrete sidewalk. <br />Councilmember Phillips questioned when the next southerly link would be constructed. <br />Director Wyffels speculated probably at the time of the build out of the Northwest Quadrant. <br />Councilmember Burg suggested looking at the opportunity through the availability of MSA funds to fund <br />the trail connection in the future. <br />Motion by Councilmember Burg, seconded by Councilmember Phillips to open the Public Hearing. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion Carried, the Public hearing was opened at 6:53 pm. <br />Mayor Jacobsen asked for additional comments, there were none. <br />Motion by Councilmember Bing, seconded by Councilmember Phillips to close the Public Hearing. <br />5 Ayes, 0 Nays, Motion Cared, The Public Hearing was dosed at 6:54 pm. <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />11.
