ReportNo. 11-058. <br />City Manager Lotter reported the budgeted amount for the project is estimated at $1.74 million. City Manager Lotter reported the City will reevaluate the signage <br />Report No. 11-058. <br />plan to assure the facility is adequately signed. <br />Susan Nemitz and David Norrgard, representing the Ramsey County Library were introduced. <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported he along with CoundlmemberPhillips and Director ofPa& and Recreation Sandy <br />Breuer met to review plans and look at ways to provide better access to the hbrary from within the Community <br />Center. <br />Susan Nemitz, Ramsey County library Director reported they are excited for this opportunity and expressed <br />her appreciation to Dean Lotter, Sandy Breuer and Brad Martens Ms. Nemitz noted the pre -design major <br />issues included the L shaped space is somewhat awkward. The second issue relates to the main entrance. <br />The potential costs associated with these revisions are costly, and the architects will continue to work out the <br />details. <br />Councilmember Burg reported the North St Paul Community Center has a Ramsey County Library as part of <br />their facility. Ms. Nemitz confinned it has been avery successful arrangement <br />Councilmember Burg stated it is critical to address parking issues early on. City Manager Lotter reported the <br />contract allows two years for the City to determine parking needs. Councilmember Burg suggested improving <br />the parking lot during the construction process to avoid future discouragement by patrons. Ms. Nemitz <br />explained the County wants to be certain any parking issues are based on real data <br />Councilmember Bauman reported she would like to see a billboard at the Community Center. City Manager <br />Lotter noted the City will continue to look at acode amendment to permit electronic reader board signage. <br />Related to parking concerns, Councilmember Phillips suggested Community Center employees utilize the <br />overflow parking area. Director Breuer stated that would be impractical because staff comes and goes <br />throughout the day. <br />Councilmember Bauman asked about the potential opening date? Ms Nemitz stated they are hoping to <br />receive County and City council approval mid April 2011.
