March 22,2011 Page 6 of 7 <br /> planning commission. <br /> City Attorney LeFevere reported it is typical for a commissioner to remain in their position until a successor is <br /> appointed and qualified.Mr.Lotter stated the current ordinance would not provide for that. Mr.LeFevere <br /> reported he would look into the number of commissioners required for the Planning Commission. <br /> Councilmember Burg stated that some of the policies the Council adopted related to the Advisory <br /> Commissions have not been in the best interest of the community. Councilmember Phillips suggested a <br /> worksession be scheduled to address some of the questions related to the issue. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Burg,seconded by Councilmember Phillips to waive the reading and adopt <br /> the resolution appointing volunteers to serve on the City's various Advisory Commissions,and also ask <br /> staff to bring ordinance to future worksession for review. <br /> 5 Ayes,0 Nays-Motion Carried <br /> Commission Liaison Reports,Announcements and Updates Commission <br /> Liaison Reports, <br /> Dean Lotter Announcements <br /> and Updates <br /> City Manager Lotter reported he will be working on the amendments to the lease with Ramsey <br /> County. Mr. Lotter will be attending the upcoming Twin City North Chamber of Commerce <br /> meeting at Brightondale Senior Center in New Brighton. Also he will be attending a legislative <br /> discussion at the Shorewood in Fridley regarding inter-governmental aide; specifically LGA. <br /> Gina Bauman <br /> Councilmember Bauman reported she attended the EDC meeting March 15th. Out of eight firms <br /> contacted for developer/brokerage services, four submitted RFPs. The EDC will be <br /> interviewing the two developers and two brokerage firms; March 24th and March 29th. <br /> Councilmember Bauman stated she feels all the EDC member expressed their commitment to <br /> the work of the commission. <br /> Mary Burg <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> David Phillips <br /> Councilmember Phillips reported the Mayor attended the Planning Commission March 15th <br /> Char Samuelson <br /> Councilmember Samuelson reported the Public Safety Commission will meet March 30th <br /> There are 40 participants in the Citizen's Police Academy. There will be a Public Safety <br /> Volunteer Dinner on May 15, 2011 at the Community Center. <br /> Mayor Jacobsen <br /> Mayor Jacobsen reported the Town Hall meeting will address ways the community can get <br /> involved in volunteer opportunities throughout the City. <br />
