PROCLAMATION <br />TO DECLARE MAY 20TH AS "BIKE TO WORKDAY" <br />AND THE MONTH OF MAYAS "BIKE MONTH" <br />IN THE CITY OF NEW BRIGHTON <br />WHEREAS, May 20, 2011 is National Bike to Work Day and May is National Bike <br />th; and <br />WHEREAS, for more than a century, the bicycle has been an important part of the lives <br />of nl�st Americans; and <br />WHEREAS, today, millions of Americans engage in bicycling as an environmentally <br />form of transportation, an excellent form of fitness, and a quality model of family <br />pion; and <br />WHEREAS, the education of cyclists and motorists as to the proper and safe operation of <br />s is important to ensure the safety and comfort of all users; and, <br />WHEREAS, the League of American Bicyclists and independent cyclists throughout our <br />re promoting greater public awareness of bicycle operation and safety education in an <br />to reduce accidents, injuries and fatalities; and <br />WHEREAS, to promote proper and safe operation of bicycles, the New Brighton City <br />webage will add a temporary link to the Parks and Recreation web page. On this page will be a <br />link Minnesota Safety Council. Minnesota Safety Council offers individuals an opportunity to <br />vura ase various size helmets at a reasonable rate. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that I, Dave Jacobsen, Mayor of the City of <br />NeBrighton, Minnesota do hereby proclaim May 20fl' as "Bike to Work Day" in the City of <br />Ne righton; and <br />BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the month of May be "Bike Month" and that <br />citi s be called upon to participate in bike rides and "Bike to Work Day" to promote bicycling <br />in Brighton during the month of May. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my <br />hand and caused the Seal of the City of New Brighton, <br />Minnesota to be affixed this loth day of May, 2011 <br />Dave Jacobsen, Mayor <br />
