Legislative History: January 9,2007: Council approval to seek(SRTS)Grant October 9,2007: Council accepted SRTS Grant January 22,2008: Council approval to enter into project contract with MnDOT For Hansen Park&Highview Middle School Trails August 12,2008: Council accepted feasibility report, conducted a public hearing, ordered the project, and authorized advertisement for bids. For Silver Lake Bridge,Sidewalk&Median Improvements January 26,2009: Council entered into Design Phase Engineering Services Agreement with WSB. June 9,2009: Council approved plans&specifications and advertisement for bids. July 13, 2010: Council approval to enter into a contract with Sunram Construction Inc. for the bridge and trail work. Financial Impact: The attached Change Order 3 addresses extra costs in the amount of$2,850 for installation of 4-12" metal aprons and replacement of existing Class 7 base material prior to placing the trail. Work on both of these items was not anticipated at the time of the bid and needs to be paid for by change order. Please see attached payment breakdown for details. Explanation: The SRTS project includes two separate projects 1) Hansen Park & Highview Middle School Trails and 2) Silver Lake Bridge, Sidewalk&Median Improvements. For the purposes of bidding, reporting and grant tracking,these projects were combined into a single bid package. All major work on the Silver Lake Road Bridge is complete. The Hansen Park Trail is paved and final seeding should be complete in the next few weeks. The provisions of the contract with Sunram Construction, Inc. stipulate that the City makes a partial payment to the contractor at lease once each month at regular intervals on the basis of the work performed during that preceding month. This partial payment shall not exceed 95 percent of the value of the certified estimate. Costs and Funding: This project will be funded from a $175,000 Mn/DOT Safe Route to Schools grant, Municipal S e Aid funds,and Storm Sewer Capital funds. G nt . Wy els, P.E.
