Legislative History: Seal coating is part of the annual street maintenance program which also includes concrete curb and gutter repair, street striping, and mill and overlays. Financial Impact: Seal coating is programmed into and paid for from Fund 422, Contract Maintenance. Explanation: Streets are seal coated at 5 years and 13 years after their construction or reconstruction. There are 3.53 miles of streets to be seal coated, and the New Brighton Community Center overflow parking lot which will be fog sealed under this year's project. Attached to this report is a copy of the informational letter and project map which will be to residents in the seal coating areas. Bids for Project 11-2A, 2011 Street Seal Coating were opened by Staff at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. The following bid was received: Allied Blacktop Company =$81,701.46 Allied Blacktop Company has done seal coating for the City in the past and has done a good job. Staff recommends the 2011 Seal Coating be awarded to Allied Blacktop Company. The cost of seal coating has risen considerably over the years because of increases in the price of oil.
