Zoning Code Section 8- <br /> 010(2)concerning <br /> landscape standards. <br /> City Planner Gundlach reported that this is a city-initiated request to amend the Zoning Code Report No. 11-296. <br /> to provide more descriptive landscaping standards. The ordinance would impact primarily Ordinance No. 805. <br /> commercial and industrial property and provide clear expectations with regard to descriptive <br /> landscaping requirements. This request is something the Planning Commission and City <br /> Council have directed staff to work on, the research and amendment drafting has taken <br /> nearly 10 months to complete. <br /> The amendment aims to address the following points. <br /> • Lists goals and a purpose for the ordinance <br /> • Outlines specifically the types of projects that will have to comply with the <br /> landscaping requirements <br /> • Provides separate sets of standards for new developments & redevelopments of a <br /> certain size <br /> • Establishes a completion timeline and maintenance requirements <br /> • Allows flexibility so as to promote special design features <br /> It was reported that this ordinance has been reviewed by the Planning Commission during <br /> several work sessions, as well as the City Attorney and Economic Development <br /> Commission. <br /> Staff recommends the City Council adopt the ordinance, amending Zoning Code Section 8- <br /> 010 (2) to provide more descriptive landscaping standards. <br /> Councilmember Phillips stated he has been an advocate for this change for a couple years, in <br /> order to provide clear expectations for architects submitting plans. Gratitude was expressed <br /> to the Planning Commission and City Planner Gundlach for their work on the ordinance. <br /> Councilmembers Samuelson, Burg and Bauman all expressed appreciation for the efforts of <br /> City Staff and the Planning Commission for their commitment. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Samuelson,seconded by Councilmember Burg to adopt the Zoning <br /> Code Amendment impacting Section 8-010 (2) concerning landscaping standards. <br />
