Public Safety Commission <br /> September 26,2011 <br /> Attending: Commissioner Allen, Commissioner Benke, Commissioner Bredenbeck, <br /> Commissioner Donohue, Commissioner Hollimon, Commissioner Kroll, <br /> Commissioner Lamp, Commissioner Schumann, Council Member Burg, <br /> Director Jacobson, and Grant Wyffels,New Brighton Director of Public <br /> Works <br /> Absent: Commissioner Woods <br /> Citizens: Long Nguyen <br /> Call to Order/Roll Call <br /> Commissioner Allen called the June meeting to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. <br /> June Meeting Minutes <br /> The June meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Bredenbeck motioned to accept the <br /> minutes; Commissioner Schumann seconded. Motion carried. <br /> Public Hearing/Presentations <br /> A. Consideration of No Parking Signage on 14th St NW between 20th Ave and 23rd Ave <br /> NW <br /> Public Works Director Wyffels reported this issue came to light last winter when we had large <br /> snow banks. He stated there are three proposed changes: 1) relocate four existing"No Parking <br /> from Here to Corner" signs to provide improved sightlines 2) add two "No Parking from Here to <br /> Driveway" signs to improve sightlines 3)restrict parking on the north side of 14t" Street NW <br /> from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday thru Friday. <br /> Commissioner Lamp made a motion to approve all three recommended changes as stated and for <br /> these changes to be in effect year round; Commissioner Kroll seconded. Motion carried. <br /> B. Consideration of No Parking Signage at the End of the Alley off of 7t" St NW <br /> between 1st and 2nd Ave NW <br /> Public Works Director Wyffels reported this request came from a homeowner. All of the homes <br /> adjacent are rental properties so cars park at the dead end of the alley. These parked cars restrict <br /> access to the rear yards and to sewer line access manholes. <br /> Commissioner Benke made a motion to approve this recommendation; Commissioner <br /> Bredenbeck seconded. Motion carried. <br />
