Public Safety Commission September 26,2011 Attending: Commissioner Allen, Commissioner Benke, Commissioner Bredenbeck, Commissioner Donohue, Commissioner Hollimon, Commissioner Kroll, Commissioner Lamp, Commissioner Schumann, Council Member Burg, Director Jacobson, and Grant Wyffels,New Brighton Director of Public Works Absent: Commissioner Woods Citizens: Long Nguyen Call to Order/Roll Call Commissioner Allen called the June meeting to order at 6:30 pm and roll call was taken. June Meeting Minutes The June meeting minutes were reviewed. Commissioner Bredenbeck motioned to accept the minutes; Commissioner Schumann seconded. Motion carried. Public Hearing/Presentations A. Consideration of No Parking Signage on 14th St NW between 20th Ave and 23rd Ave NW Public Works Director Wyffels reported this issue came to light last winter when we had large snow banks. He stated there are three proposed changes: 1) relocate four existing"No Parking from Here to Corner" signs to provide improved sightlines 2) add two "No Parking from Here to Driveway" signs to improve sightlines 3)restrict parking on the north side of 14t" Street NW from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday thru Friday. Commissioner Lamp made a motion to approve all three recommended changes as stated and for these changes to be in effect year round; Commissioner Kroll seconded. Motion carried. B. Consideration of No Parking Signage at the End of the Alley off of 7t" St NW between 1st and 2nd Ave NW Public Works Director Wyffels reported this request came from a homeowner. All of the homes adjacent are rental properties so cars park at the dead end of the alley. These parked cars restrict access to the rear yards and to sewer line access manholes. Commissioner Benke made a motion to approve this recommendation; Commissioner Bredenbeck seconded. Motion carried.
