„icilylite of <br /> • BRIGHTON <br /> the city that works for you <br /> Council Worksession <br /> October 25, 2011 <br /> Present: Mayor Dave Jacobsen <br /> Councilmember Char Samuelson <br /> Councilmember David Phillips <br /> Councilmember Gina Bauman <br /> Councilmember Mary Burg <br /> Absent: None <br /> Staff in Attendance: <br /> City Manager Dean Lotter <br /> Director of Parks and Recreation Sandy Breuer <br /> Director of Public Works Grant Wyffels <br /> Park Maintenance Manager Chris Wolla <br /> Others in Attendance: <br /> None <br /> The meeting was called to order at 5:30 PM. <br /> Pedestrian Bridge at the New Brighton Community Center- <br /> City Manager Dean Lotter stated that on October 14th a structural engineer with WSB & <br /> Associates inspected the pedestrian bridge at the New Brighton Community Center and stated <br /> that the current condition of the pedestrian bridge does not comply with current load capacity <br /> codes. The bridge was determined to be structurally deficient. <br /> Director of Parks and Recreation Sandy Breuer shared with the Council Members detailed <br /> information regarding the Pedestrian Bridge and quotes from three different companies with <br /> prices ranging from $18,900 to $43,400. This Pedestrian Bridge project would be paid for <br /> through Park Dedication fees. Staff is seeking approval from Council to purchase a new <br /> pedestrian bridge. <br /> Director of Public Works Grant Wyffels provided information to the City Council regarding the <br /> cost associated with refurbishing the existing pedestrian bridge at the New Brighton Community <br /> Center. The projected cost for refurbishing the bridge is $13,000 plus the cost of new wood <br /> decking. <br /> After much discussion, the City Council directed City staff to refurbish the existing pedestrian <br /> bridge at a projected cost not to exceed $20,000. <br /> The worksession was adjourned at 6:30 PM. <br /> 1 <br />
