Frischman opened discussion up to the Parks, Recreation and <br /> Environmental Commissioners. <br /> Weber felt the egg addling program should continue. Not sure about the <br /> round up, but the addling seems like a good thing. If they expand and go <br /> on property, it will get better. If we continue this, hopefully there will not <br /> be a need for the round up. <br /> Lundberg agreed. You can't determine by one year if egg addling will be <br /> successful. She felt that it should be continued. <br /> Frischman inquired about whether there were phone calls or e-mails about <br /> this that may have been any different than any previous years. <br /> Lisa Taft stated that Sandy said she did not receive any complaints about <br /> the geese this summer. <br /> Trevorrow inquired if there are fewer geese this year in the City than <br /> usual. <br /> Richard Myslajek stated there are much less than normal. <br /> Fields stated the duck and geese population seem to be down in his area; it <br /> has to be something to do with weather conditions. <br /> Frischman said the program was almost 100% volunteer based. Should the <br /> Commission/Department pin our hopes that there will be that many <br /> interested in volunteering on a regular basis? <br /> Lisa Taft stated Sandy is trying to get the word out about the egg addling <br /> training sessions in February. There is a small group who live outside of <br /> New Brighton who may be able to help addle, but we would like to see <br /> people who have problems with the geese help us. <br /> John Taft said there were about 10-15 volunteers that came to the training. <br /> They seemed enthusiastic and would have responded with a simple phone <br /> call. He is pretty certain that we could get the necessary people to help us <br /> out. <br /> Lisa Taft stated that what we really need to talk about is how to locate <br /> nests. <br /> Council Member Phillips reminded everyone that we need to have <br /> permission to go on private property. <br /> John Taft stated that is why we have connected with a couple of places <br /> like Lakeside Mobile Home Park.
