Frischman asked what everyone wanted; to go with it, or wait?
MOTION BY WEBER, SECONDED BY LUNDBERG, THAT WE
HAVE SOMEONE WRITE THIS UP AND THEN PRESENT IT AT
THE JANUARY MEETING AND WE CAN WORK WITH IT THEN.
MOTION CARRIED.
VI. New Business
A. None
VII. Trails, Bike and Walk-ways
A. Discussion
Frischman noted that this agenda item has been added as part of the formal
part of the meeting.
Frischman stated that there is group concession that we keep it on the
agenda and address it at every meeting.
Parker mentioned that he has some information on the 35W bridge.
Ramsey County is hoping to get funding for the 35W/Hwy 96 crossing
which means they really want to do something there. They did mention
that it is tied to the Viking Stadium.
Frischman stated Hwy 96 is a Ramsey County Road and 35W is MNDOT.
So when Ramsey County goes over 35W. Who has the jurisdiction as how
the bridge is built?
Parker stated that usually MNDOT will take jurisdiction over the project,
but they will each have their portion of the project. It will be similar to the
Hwy 10/Hwy 96 project. It will probably be 2013 when the Hwy 10/Hwy
96 project will take place. They are looking at 2014 or 2015 for the
35W/Hwy 96 bridge portion of the project.
Frischman wondered if we somehow need to develop a map that shows
what we would like to see in New Brighton and then make that part of a
formal recommendation that goes to our City Council.
Trevorrow stated he thought that was in our map. He thought there was a
trail all the way up to Hwy. 96.
Frischman said there is also the new trail that is going in up there. Public
Works is working on one that goes on Old 8 up past the hotel. At the
corner of Hwy 96, going across 35W.
Fields said we have the trails that are part of Long Lake Park and we have
6
