City Planner Gundlach reported that the Planning Commission has examined the current ordinance <br /> addressing temporary signs, as well as those of adjacent communities. The following major changes are <br /> proposed: <br /> Each business or lot may be issued four(4)two-temporary sign permits during any calendar year. Such temporary <br /> signs shall not be on display more than fourteen (14)thirty days. Multiple temporary sign permits may he issued <br /> Each business may he permitted one sandwich hoard sign to he displayed daily, during business hours only, <br /> without permit. Such sign shall not exceed 36"x 24"per side and must be located outside of the right-of-way. <br /> A temporary sign displayed for the purpose of a new business's grand opening may he displayed for thirty (30) <br /> days, without a permit, and not counted towards the temporary sign allowances in Section 9-046(2) above. The <br /> same would apply to a business going out of business. <br /> Commissioner Smith commented that as a business owner he likes the proposed changes. <br /> 2012 New Brighton Exchange Work Plan <br /> Director Fernelius stated that one of the tasks related to the EDC is completion of development guidance <br /> criteria. After reviewing the financial projections, the EDC can have better information upon which to <br /> prepare the assess criteria and develop recommendations to the Council. <br /> Councilmember Samuelson stated that she would like to see the commission work on more <br /> brainstorming activities. Chair Zisla suggested holding the Enhanced Services Discussion earlier than <br /> scheduled. <br /> Chair Zisla reported that he will work with Director Fernelius to determine whether there will be a <br /> meeting in January. <br /> Adjournment <br /> Meeting adjourned at 8:43 am. <br />
