Jacobson, Director of Public Safety <br /> CITY MANAGER'S APPROVAL: <br /> No comments to su lement this re ort Comments attached <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Accept the monetary and in kind gift donations for the Santa Cop Program. <br /> Legislative History: <br /> N/A <br /> Financial Impact: <br /> Receipt of$11,315 in cash and in kind donations of toys, clothing and gifts. <br /> Explanation: <br /> The New Brighton Santa Cop program began in 1995 and has grown and continued to this day. <br /> The Santa Cop program is designed to assist families in the New Brighton area who are in need <br /> of assistance during the holiday season. The current program has been coordinated for several <br /> years by Officer Kathy McNeely. Officer McNeely receives assistance from many members of <br /> the Volunteers in Public Safety (VIPS) who donated 62.5 hours to Santa Cop activities in <br /> December. In 2011,the Santa Cop program assisted 51 families to include 128 children with <br /> gifts and clothing for the holiday season. The gifts are supplied entirely through cash and in <br /> kind donations to the Santa Cop program. We are very grateful, and humbled, by the <br /> generosity of the many donors, many of whom wish to remain anonymous, from our community. <br /> All donors receive a card of thanks from the program coordinators and the gratitude of the many <br /> recipients from our Community.
