January 10, 2012 <br />Commission Liaison Reports, Announcements and Updates <br />Dean Lotter <br />City Manager Lotter reported that the annual council retreat will take place January 25 and <br />'possibly January 26th at the Shoreview Community Center. Neighborhood Meetings are <br />scheduled for the four Thursdays in February at 6:30 pm. Town Hall is scheduled for March <br />24th at the Community Center. <br />Manager Lotter reported that the Labor Agreement with the LELS Local 113 included a 2% <br />salary increase for the next three years. Additionally a zero co pay option was removed for the <br />health insurance language. There was a non monetary amendment to the uniform allowance <br />as well. <br />Gina Bauman <br />Councilmember Bauman reported that the Planning Commission did not hold a meeting in <br />December, and the next meeting is scheduled for January 17th. It was reported that North <br />Suburban Cable Commission will be offering $30,000 in scholarship awards in the coming <br />months. <br />Mary Bure <br />Councilmember Burg reported that CERT training is scheduled for March 1, 2012; interested <br />residents were encouraged to participate. There will be a blood drive on January 11th, from <br />1:30 -6:30 pm. It was reported hat several New Brighton Police Officer attended a funeral for <br />Lake City Police Officer Shawn Schneider. Beyond the Yellow Ribbon will be hosting a <br />luncheon for family members of deployed service personnel on January 22, 2012. The next <br />Public Safety Commission meeting will be January 30, 2012; the commission will discuss <br />traffic issues. <br />Char Samuelson <br />Councilmember Samuelson reported that the EDC will meet Tuesday January 170h at 7:30 am. <br />The meeting will focus on the New Brighton Exchange financial scenarios. <br />Mayor Jacobsen <br />Mayor Jacobsen reported that he participated in the judging of the Irondale High School Social <br />Study departments Project Citizen. It was reported that the ninth graders did an excellent job <br />with the project.
